Has anyone had any success teaching their Beagle to track?

Our pup is, like most beagles I expect, a naughtly little rascal. She used to have superb recal until about four and a half months old but it's slowly gone down hill since then. Now she's eight an a half months old she just plain ignores us. She's still fine off-lead if there's another dog to play with but once that nose hits the ground we might as well not exist!

So, we thought if she finds sniffing the ground so fascinating maybe it's a good idea to teach her to do it in a controlled way. That way we satisfy her urge to follow trails, and *perhaps* gain more control over her at the same time.

We've started doing a little bit with her working from books and I have to say she is VERY good at it. But it'd be good to exchange ideas with someone else that's tried this with a Beagle.

We've posted up her tracking progress in her blog : http://www.fourleggedpal.com if anyone's interested in seeing what we've tried so far.
